My great-grandmother is sitting near the front-middle holding the latest rage, a stuffed "Teddy" bear. Yes, they had electric lights. My dad shared this photo on facebook tonight and I thought I would share it with you. :)
What an awesome piece of family history! And, very cool...
It is a good thing someone invented those new fangled Teddy Bears too. They are my children's primary toys. They have names, family relationships, problems to solve. It is really all quite complicated.
I don't remember when Teddy Bears first were made, but I love that your great grandmother is holding one. I have a couple of Teddies myself, along with several stuffed chimpanzees and a gorilla. They all have names.....
Now, that's some perspective for me. Both my paternal grandparents were born in 1900. I never knew either of them, but this picture helps me imagine the world they were born into. So cool, and thank you for sharing!

That's sweet! I'm glad they play together nicely with them (most of the time). :)

This is 1899-1900 so I should imagine you do NOT remember when Teddy bears were first made...! :)
DeleteI love old photos. My family is from another country, and I don't have many. I treasure the ones I do have.
ReplyDeleteThey're so fun! But I don't have many. Pinched this one from the internet.
DeleteLove the picture! Lordie, that was a houseful for somebody!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?? This looks like a dining room with no table!
